Have you seen our voice to print packs? So far we've shared a transportation pack and a Christmas pack. Today I'yard adding to the drove with a pack virtually toys.
How to prepare the activity
- Print the cards in the download at the end of this mail.
- Laminate (if desired) and cut autonomously the cards. We love this dwelling laminator because information technology gives a nice thick seal, and the cards don't pare on the edges.
- Punch a hole in the corner of each card and demark them together with a metallic ring.
Introducing the pack
I began my showing my Three the words that would be in the cards. He knew "I" and "a" right abroad. He was able to find the other two words when I asked him to notice them. He used the beginning sound as a clue.
"Tin can you observetake?"
"Hhhhave. This i."
"Reading" the cards
The start card of each set up (you'll find x unlike toys in the package) just asks your kid to proper noun the motion picture. Confidence building is important! The dot helps your child come across that the single word of impress equals one discussion that he speaks from his oral fissure. That's why this is sometimes chosen vocalisation to print matching.
My Three had no trouble with the first card in the set.
I like to brand the 2d card very easy, likewise. Since my Three knows the letter "a," he could hands read the second card in each ready.
Here is the third card.
My Three has made so much progress with concepts of print that he doesn't need to point to each word for every card. However, he did do that for the final carte du jour of the set. It was easy to go sidetracked with so many words in the sentence.
This one tripped him up a fiddling flake. He wanted to say "a new teddy comport," since there were three words. Simply when he got to "teddy," he stopped. He recognized that it couldn't say "new" because it started with a "t."
Is this really reading?
No. Not when kids can't read the words in isolation.
Information technology'sactually, reallyimportant that we give kickoff readers focused phonics practise while teaching them to sound out CVC words and more.
Only that isn't my purpose with these concepts of print cards. It's only to assistance kids lucifer their voice to print.
After your learners "get" this skill, it'due south time to move on to decodable text.
Here are the pre-reading skills my son was learning:
- Each discussion I say is a give-and-take on the page.
- I read from left to right.
- I can track the words by pointing to them.
